Bathtime fun...

Kendall's umbilical stump fell off this week, which meant it was time for her first bath. Up until now, she's only been sponged off and wiped down. I gathered all the necessities in the bathroom and put her in the tub. Much to my surprise, she was calm and alert. I have seen and heard such terrible bath experience stories from friends, I was expecting her first bath to be a very tragic experience. Kendall only fussed at the end, when the water was cooling off and I was lifting her out of the water to rinse her well.

Afterwards, we got to try out her new bath bag (kinda like a robe). She loved it, and it was so cute with it's little hood with ears.

Have you heard of the missing husband?

Have you heard about the missing husband? Apparently, he had forgotten he and his wife's annivesary and failed to bring home anything for his wife. She is angry, and gave him an ultimatum -- she said she better have something in the driveway the next morning that goes 0-200 in 6 seconds flat, or else, she would leave him. The couple went to bed and the next morning, the husband was nowhere to be found upon the wif'e's awakening. She looks all around and found a package in the driveway. Perplexed, she got her robe on and went out to see what her husband had left for her....What could it be, in such a small package --"maybe it's keys." Much to her surprise, she opened the package and found a scale. Her husband has never been seen since.

First time out of the house...

Kendall, Brooks and I had errands to run today...we went to the bank, post office, pharmacy, and then out to lunch. Kendall was wonderful - she slept the entire time! She had a all around good day - she nursed really well and slept well. Brooks go back to work tomorrow, and I hope she is just as good. Thats it for now...tah tah

Free from the Bili Lamp...

So, we got to get rid of the Bili Lamp today...yay! Kendall's bilirubin finally came back down to an acceptable level and she has started gaining weight again (yet, she is still not back to her birth weight.) I was so excited! The first thing I did when the home nurse left today was play dress up with Kendall. For the entire first week of her life, she had to lay naked (with exception of a diaper) on top of this "tanning bed." It really is no fun; I wanted to hold her all the time and dress her in all those cute clothes we have. After we played dress up, she got to get in her swing for a little while, which she loved; and then, she ate and slept with mommy in the recliner for a nap....what a wonderful morning!

Introducing Kendall Reese...

.....born 09/15/2008, 2338....8 lbs 9 oz, 21 inches long. She has already managed to steal my heart...can't imagine life without her at this point. We are doing well - Kendall is jaundiced and spending all of her time outside of feedings on a phototherapy lamp, until her bilirubin levels return to normal. She has a great set of lungs on her and a temper! More to come....

Down to the wire...

So, I go in Monday for induction...Hopefully, I will have a good labor and delivery of Kendall. I know, in the end, it will all be worth it. No more, "you sure there is just 1 baby in there?" HA, HA - yeah, I'm not exactly laughing...I feel like enough of a fat cow without others rubbing it in. This weekend it is all about taking it easy and tying up loose ends. Gotta finish the laundry and go to a birthday party tomorrow -- that seems do-able. I worked my last shift at work Thursday night, and I was kinda sad to leave -- I work with a lot of awesome people. One thing I didn't enjoy was submitting my schedule request for my return to work...I wasn't even out the door yet before it was time for us to put our requests in....eek! I don't even know what it is like to have a kid yet, much less balance mine and husband's work schedules so that we don't need outside child care. We'll see, I may just decided to take 3 more weeks of family leave so that I don't have to go back until January. I will try to update this thing as much as possible, but let me apologize in advance, because I have no idea what it is like to have a new baby in the house. TTFN

A few days off after a 7 day stretch...

I survived working 7 nights in a row...I'm exhausted and my ankles are huge! I have to go back to work on Monday, but there will be no down time for me! I have lots of work to do to the house to get prepared for baby. We had an OB appointment yesterday....if we do not go into labor by Monday, September 15th, I will be induced. It is so surreal -- only like 10 days away and 4 of those, I am working. My baby shower is this weekend, so I am super excited about that -- gotta love presents! Last night, I finished painting in the baby's nursery and arranged the furniture. I'll have to do the finishing touches around next Friday or Saturday, after I have everything. It is getting down to the wire -- eek!
